Indigenous recruit Soli Bailey from Byron Bay took out the annual DP Battle Royale invitational surfing event held at Stanwell Park on Saturday the 15th in a hotly contested final against Jared Hickel.

The contest organised by Dylan Perese, Scarborough Boardriders Club and Geoff Latimer from Illawarra Sports High saw the best surfers from Sydney to the far South Coast battle it out in fun 3 foot waves. Bailey banked a cool $3,000 for winning the event plus a chartered trip through the Mentawai's courtesy of our event sponsor Saraina www.surfinmentawais.com for landing the best aerial manoeuvre of the event.

"This wave is really fun, we had a good time here today, I'm stoked!" said Bailey after the final.

Skye Burgess from Port Kembla fought hard to win the Open Women's Final and DP Team Rider Jay Brown from Cronulla won the Junior Final.

The Undercard schools event organised by Geoff Latimer from Illawarra Sports High on Friday the 14th at Sandon Point provided great opportunity for the younger generation to showcase their skills.
